The Grim Reaper is like a cousin to the Ankou. It does the same stuff, and they both bring carcasses and corpses to Heaven
The Ankou is a personification of death in Celtic folklore of Brittany. It is also a soul collecter of the dead. It collects bodies either to bring them to Heaven, or Hell. Ankous are very creepy and sneaky. They wear long, black cloak and carryies a scive with a long, sharp blade. It has a dark hood pulled over his head hiding his face in blackness. The character seemed to be reported by Anatole Le Braz. In his book "The Legend of Death" He wrote a thing about the Ankou. This is it:
The Ankou is a henchmen of Death and he is also known as the grave yard watcher, They said that he protecs the graveyard and souls for some unkown reason and he collects the lost souls on his land. The last dead of the year, in each parish, becomes the Ankou of his perish for all the following year. When their has been, in a year, more deaths than usual, one says about the Ankou:
"on my faith, this one is a nasty Ankou"
So, Ankous are pretty creepy. So, if you ever see one, run before it takes you to Hell!
